We have reached the holiday break in High School Basketball. Only South Sioux City will play any games this week — the boys and the girls are in the Waverly Tournament. It is still early in the season but here are my evaluations of each team right now.

There’s a lot of negative vibes coming from Iowa Hawkeye fans over the last couple of days. It looks like Ricky Stanzi’s injury has caused a ton of people to jump off the Hawk bandwagon. Maybe we can blame a national magazine — it looks like Sports Illustrated has struck again.

Recently, Wells Blue Bunny decided to back out of the major sponsor of the NAIA Volleyball Tournament. So, the tourney got a big boost when it announced on Wednesday that CNOS and Siouxland Surgery Center has stepped in as the presenting sponsor.

This past Saturday, the North Stars celebrated a baseball title and it completed an unbelievable season for Sioux City athletics in the 2008-09 sports season. Think about it.
