Preston Ives returned a kick 70 yards for a touchdown on the final play of the first half and Heelan finished off Denison-Schleswig 34-14 in 3A playoff action on Monday night.

It was over before it started.
Bishop Heelan moved into the second round of the 3A State Playoffs with a 66-2 win over Creston O/M on Wednesday night at Memorial Field. The Crusaders obviously wanted to play a lot better than last Friday’s OT win over Sgt. Bluff-Luton. Mission accomplished.

On Wednesday night, Heelan will begin their quest to repeat as 3A state champions. The Crusaders will take on Creston, the 4th seed in District 8. In a workmanlike effort, the Heelan Crusaders won the battle on the line of scrimmage and outslugged the Spencer Tigers 28-3 up in Spencer, IA on Friday night.
The Crusaders used a strong ground game led by Sophomore Michael Malloy and both the offensive and defensive lines dominated for Heelan leading to the victory.
