Before I get to this week’s picks, I wanted to answer a question below about Brandon Wegher and his impact at the University of Iowa. The short answer is: depends. Depends on the future of Shonn Greene.
Greene is the leading candidate to win the Doak Walker Award this year at Iowa and will get some [...]

On the ride home from Cedar Falls on Saturday evening (which became Sunday morning) all I could think of was that final 100 yard run by Brandon Wegher. Think of it. That was the final time Wegher touched the football in a Heelan football uniform. And he ran the length of the football field, 100 [...]

Last Week: 8-2. Year to Date: 25-16
I picked the upset right, Maryland over UNC, and went perfect in my college football picks. Only the Bears and the Ravens prevented me from a perfect week. Some pretty big games this week so here we go:
Georgia Tech @ #23 Miami. The ACC is a mess. It would [...]

This past Sunday, I decided to skip the NFL games and went to Omaha to see the Creighton Blue Jays open the 2008-09 basketball season against New Mexico. Its always a little weird in November with the overlap of the beginning of basketball season with football season. But the trip was well worth it.
If you [...]

It seems ages ago when Heelan played last but the Iowa Class 3A semifinals will get here. I promise.
On Monday afternoon, Heelan continues their pursuit of the dream — a state championship. The Crusaders travel to the UNI-Dome for the second consecutive year as they take on Clear Lake (4:30 PM Kickoff on 1360 KSCJ, [...]

Last Week: 6-4 Year To Date: 17-14
Not to brag or anything, but last week I did pick the EXACT SCORE of the Iowa/Penn St. game. This week is kind a lame week for college football. There’s only 1 game where 2 teams in the top 25 play.
#4 Florida @ #25 South Carolina. Wait, who won [...]

When you saw the final score of Saturday’s game between Morningside and Briar Cliff, you probably had a “shock and awe” type of feeling. How could any team lose 73-8? Was Briar Cliff that bad or was Mornginside that good?
Truth be told, it was not a very fun game to watch, broadcast, or maybe listen [...]

It really wasn’t that close.
The Crusaders broke open a close game in the second half and crushed the Cyclones 38-21, to advance to the UNI-Dome, where they will play Clear Lake in the 3A semfinals, Monday November 17 at 4:30 pm.
Harlan made far too many mistakes and could not stop Brandon Wegher and the Crusader [...]
